Eclectica Contemporary on Church Street runs a programme drawn from across the continent and framed around interrogation rather than decoration: the shows are built to ask something about how the world currently works and where African artists stand in it.
That is a broader curatorial brief than most Cape Town galleries attempt, and it produces exhibitions that hold together as arguments. The gallery is a few doors from CHURCH Projects and 1895 Gallery on the same block, which makes the three an easy sequence. It opens for First Thursdays, the CBD's late-opening evening on the first Thursday of every month.
