How sponsorship works
Some of what you see on Welike is paid for. Every one of those placements is labelled Sponsored, every time, wherever it appears.
Sponsorship never moves a ranking.
Rankings come from members voting, and nothing else. No business can pay to rank higher, to rank at all, or to have a rival rank lower. A sponsored card sits beside the results β it never joins them, and it never reorders them.
Sponsorship never influences vetting.
We visit businesses in person and unannounced. An advertiser gets no warning, no easier standard, and no say in what we write. Paying us is not a way to pass.
What sponsorship does buy.
Space, and only space. A labelled card in a fixed position, shown to people browsing a city or a category. Attention, not endorsement.
More people see the card. The ranking still comes only from members voting, nothing else.
R25.00 per 1,000 impressions β a R500.00 budget is about 20,000 impressions.
How to tell.
Look for the Sponsored label. If a card does not carry one, nobody paid for it to be there.
If you ever see a paid placement that is not labelled, tell us. We treat it as a bug in the product, not a detail.
