Ground Art Caffé Desk verified

Ground Art Caffé sits at the Strand Street end of the CBD and runs two businesses out of one room: a continental-style coffee bar at the front, and a compact exhibition space on the walls around it. The gallery half changes roughly every two months and leans towards new and emerging artists — the kind of work that has not yet found a commercial gallery, shown at a scale a small room can carry. It is an easy first or last stop on a walking route through the Bree and Loop Street galleries, and one of the few places on that route where you can look at art and get a proper coffee without changing buildings. The café takes part in First Thursdays, the CBD's late-opening evening on the first Thursday of every month, when openings usually coincide with the evening and the room stays busy well past normal closing.
